The Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) is intensifying coordinated preparations for the 2026 summer flight season, with a particular focus on maintaining a safe and continuous air traffic management service system.
As part of activities aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, BHANSA, in cooperation with the EUROCONTROL Network Manager, has already submitted and aligned the initial proposal of the operational plan for the 2026 summer season. The plan aims to ensure clear and precise planning and allocation of available operational capacities, as well as their timely and transparent communication to all stakeholders involved in the process.
BHANSA has also developed a set of air traffic flow management measures, coordinated with the Network Manager (NM), with the aim of optimizing sector capacities and enhancing the management of air traffic complexity.
In parallel, internal coordination has been initiated to plan sector opening activation times, considering changes in the structure of the available air traffic control staff, while fully preserving safety standards. Among the eleven air traffic controllers who considered employment abroad, eight decided to continue their professional careers outside BHANSA, while three chose to remain and continue their professional development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. BHANSA respects the individual professional decisions of its employees and recognizes the global market conditions and the competitiveness of the international labor market.
At the same time, BHANSA, in accordance with the applicable scholarship agreements, has activated compensation clauses for air traffic controllers leaving the system, thereby protecting the Agency’s investments in staff education and professional training.
During recent meetings, the Director of BHANSA confirmed that the Financial Plan for 2026 and the Rulebook on Salaries have been adopted, with all key documents previously harmonized with the representative trade union of BHANSA. The plan provides for significant improvements in the material standards of operational staff, including salary increases for air traffic controllers and other operational personnel of up to 25% compared to 2025.
BHANSA will, in cooperation with international partners and local institutions, continue to implement measures aimed at maintaining the safety, reliability, and sustainability of the air traffic management system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
