A Meeting FAB CE Joint Civil Military Airspace Coordination Committee (JC-MACC) Was held in Sarajevo

On October 27th 2022, Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) together with the Ministry of Defense of BiH (MO BiH) and  Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate of Civil Aviation (BHDCA) hosted the FAB CE* Joint Civil Military Airspace Coordination Committee (JC-MACC) which was held in the premises of Area Control Center (ACC)/ Operating Unit I Sarajevo. 

In addition to JC-MACC members from FAB CE member states, the director of FAB CE Aviation Services Mr. Matej Eljon participated in the meeting.

During the meeting chaired by Colonel Edin Čizmić (BiH MoD), a wide range of issues of importance for civil-military cooperation in the FAB CE member states in the field of aviation were discussed, of which we single out activities on TSA/TRA harmonization, plans for expanding the area of Free Route Areas in Europe, the impact of the crisis in Ukraine on civil-military cooperation in aviation and cooperation with NATO and EUROCONTROL bodies in charge of civil-military cooperation.

In addition, statistical data on traffic in FAB CE airspace as a whole and member states and plans in the field of communication, navigation and surveillance equipment infrastructure (CNS) were presented.

The meeting participants had the opportunity to visit the operational and technical hall of Operational Unit I Sarajevo, as well as the Airspace Management Cell (AMC BiH) and thus directly gain insight into the provision of air navigation services provided by BHANSA.

* The member states of the Functional Airspace Block of Central Europe (FAB CE) are Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Slovenia, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Austria, the Slovak Republic, the Republic of Hungary and the Republic of Croatia.
