Primorac: We are ready to welcome normalization of air traffic over BIH

Despite the unpredictable and uncertain development of the corona virus pandemic situation, which has directly affected air traffic worldwide, BHANSA expects to fully realize its plan for this year and that the air traffic situation under its control will be stabilized, said BHANSA Director Davorin Primorac.

He met with BH Minister of Communications and Transport Vojin Mitrovic at BHANSA HQ in Mostar, to discuss in addition to implementing the plan for 2021, the impact of the pandemic on BHANSA's revenues and overall operations, measures to overcome the current situation, staffing problems and technical equipment.

Like the entire aviation industry including all other air traffic control agencies, BHANSA faced unprecedented problems at the beginning of the pandemic and an almost complete suspension of air traffic.

Thanks to the crisis measures we have taken, we have managed to minimize the damage and respond to the new situation better than many other agencies, which is recognized by our European partners who have given us credit for it. We informed the Minister about the continuation of our activities, which aim to be ready for the normalization of air traffic in the coming period, said Primorac.

Even in the current crisis, BHANSA has managed to retain qualified, professional and capable staff able to meet the most demanding airspace control tasks.

Until only a few years ago, BiH had almost no capacity in that area, and now we have complete control over our skies. We are now focused on stabilizing the business and safely reviving the air traffic. Of course, we have not given up on our long-term development strategy for the period until 2027, i.e. the continuation of investments in the education of experts in BHANSA, modernization of equipment, revitalization and upgrading of infrastructure, said Primorac.

He particularly emphasized the fact that funding for these development projects, as well as all other aspects of business, will be provided exclusively from BHANSA's own funds, without state budget support. Minister Mitrović welcomed the activities of the BHANSA management and announced the full support of the line ministry to the realization of the Agency's plans.

As Primorac said, at the beginning and in the most difficult moments of the crisis caused by COVID 19, it was necessary to ensure a positive attitude of BiH towards the solutions that came from the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation. At the same time, to implement an immediate reduction in BHANSA expenditures in order to develop an agency rescue plan. Ultimately, all solutions were included into the official position of our country at the international level, as well as the official acts of the agency, which were adopted by the highest executive body of BiH, the Council of Ministers. He emphasized that the Ministry of Communications and Transport, headed by Minister Mitrović has been crucial in these processes.
