NATO representatives visited BHANSA HQ in Mostar

On 24 November 2020, representatives of NATO, LTCol Peter Aviano, Adviser on Standardization and Interoperability, Air Force and Air Defense and LTCol Jeffrey Erickson Adviser on Standardization of Training visited BHANSA HQ in Mostar

The program of the visit included a presentation of BHANSA with an emphasis on civil-military coordination in aviation, as well as a tour of the Approach and Aerodrome Control Unit in Mostar. The presentation highlighted a very good cooperation of BHANSA with the Ministry of Defense of BiH, EUFOR and NATO, all with the aim to conduct flying activities in the airspace of BiH in a safe manner in accordance with the principles of flexible use of airspace. BHANSA with its organizational units provides air navigation services to both civilian and military users. 

In the field of civil-military cooperation, the Airspace Management Cell is of special importance, as well as the Flight Information Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina, united with the Rescue Coordination Center of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, other organizational units of BHANSA that provide air navigation services are also available to military users of BiH airspace. BHANSA is interested in further improving of cooperation with all military airspace users in BiH (MoD BiH, EUFOR and NATO), which will be discussed more in the coming period.

During the visit, BHANSA Director Mr. Davorin Primorac hosted the NATO representatives, and he expressed satisfaction with the achieved level of cooperation with NATO representatives and stressed the importance of cooperation and exchange of experiences, as well as the development of overall civil-military relations in the field of aviation in BiH.

LTCol Peter Aviano emphasized the need for continued cooperation and good relations between NATO and BHANSA, and in this regard, it was agreed that similar meetings would continue in the future despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
