International praise to BHANSA for crisis management

Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) praised the measures undertaken by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) during the coronavirus pandemic.

The analysis published on the cover of CANSO's publication lists a number of measures and activities that BHANSA has undertaken since the beginning of the pandemic in order to deal with this crisis period in the best possible way. 

In order to maintain financial balance, we immediately started rationalising our operations and scaled down the BHANSA Financial Plan for 2020. By selecting priority procurements for the safe and efficient maintaining of air traffic in our airspace, the vast majority of procurements for 2020 have been postponed for the future period after the recovery of the industry. These measures have included a painful reduction in employees’ salaries, all with the aim of ensuring the continued provision of air navigation services, as well as the protection of existing jobs, says BHANSA director, Mr. Primorac.

The model applied by BHANSA is a model for other national agencies to overcome the worst crisis ever in civil aviation. Although air traffic is still significantly reduced, which directly affects BHANSA's revenues, this Agency successfully performs all activities in its responsibility. The rationalization of operations did not endanger the everyday operations of the Agency in any way. At the same time, no BHANSA employee lost his job. It is important to emphasize that the Rescue Plan implies the independent overcoming of the crisis without state aid in financing.

CANSO is the representative body of companies that provide air traffic control. It represents the interests of Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs). CANSO members are responsible for supporting over 85% of world air traffic, and through its workgroups, members share information and develop new policies, with the aim of improving air navigation services on the ground and in the air.
