The Government of Japan has donated a specialized patrol vehicle, which was handed over to Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency as an end user through the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The handover ceremony of the vehicle took place today at 11 am at the premises of BHANSA in Sarajevo.
It is a specialized vehicle designed to maintain a meteorological observation system at the location of the Approach and Aerodrome Control Unit Sarajevo.
This vehicle is the last part of a large donation from the State of Japan under a grant between the Government of Japan and the Council of Ministers of BiH from 2014 which provided the procurement of an important part of the Meteorological Air Traffic Management System.
The meteorological system consists of two automatic weather stations with a weather observation system. One automatic station is located at Sarajevo Airport and another is located at Bukovik and was installed in 2018.
In addition to contributing of meteorological services, it is important to emphasize the importance of this donation to the safety of both traffic at Sarajevo Airport as well as our complete airspace, which will provide the users of our services a high awareness on meteorological conditions, which is one of the key safety factors when providing air traffic control services.
On behalf of the Government of Japan, the vehicle donated to the Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Vojin Mitrovic, was handed over by Japanese Ambassador in BiH Mr. Hideyuki Sakamoto.
After the ceremony, Minister Mitrovic, on behalf of the BiH Council of Ministers, handed over the vehicle to BHANSA Director Mr.Davorin Primorac.
BHANSA Director Mr. Primorac thanked for the donation on behalf of the Agency, emphasizing that the State of Japan and the Japanese people have been true friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina since the first moments of our independence.
